This course will provide specific stress management tools for the participants to use independently, with a group of staff members or consumers. Each student will leave the class with a relaxation tape and a Stress Management Activity Book. If you would like to learn more about reducing your stress levels, techniques to better handle stressful moments and assisting your consumers in dealing with stressors in their life, then this class is for you.

This course aids the participant in acknowledging changes that take place as people get older. There is a focus on changes that people with developmental disabilities may experience and how the service provider may assist in dealing with these life changes. Issues surrounding death and dying are also covered in this course.

Improving Your Public Speaking Skills

Occasionally we are called upon to give a presentation or speak in front of a group. Strengthen your skills and confidence by spending some time learning the techniques and actions of professional speakers. This class is taught in two segments. Day One is two hours of lecture/participation in preparation for Day Two (a week later) when each participant actually gives a ten minute presentation independently developed by the participant.
