Creating Opportunities for People with Disabilities

Residential Services

WELCOME HOME!

Heritage Centers Individual Residential Alternatives (IRAs) offer individuals with developmental disabilities a greater sense of freedom and independence, while providing them with a clean and safe living environment that they can be proud to call "home."

With locations throughout Erie County, IRAs offer a full-range of individualized and quality services including: nursing, behavior supports and nutritional counseling, as well as recreation, social supports and inclusion opportunities. All services are designed to develop skills, emphasize individuality and identify goals, while respecting and accommodating each individual's choice and preferences.

All sites are fully staffed to ensure appropriate supervision, including both 24-hour supervised houses and less-than-24-hour supported apartments. Barrier-free homes are also available, if needed.

NEW WITH THE OMRDD OPTS INITIATIVE...

Heritage Centers fully embraces the OMRDD vision of person-centered services through the OPTS initiative.

As a result, we are open to suggestions from both individuals and families on the development of individualized and tailor-designed living arrangements.

A few examples of these kinds of customized homes would be:
  • "Silver Six" - a house for six elderly individuals who have medical needs
  • "Tonawanda Four" - a house in Tonawanda for four young adult friends, all of whom have some skill-building needs
  • "Baby Grand" - a house on Grand Island for medically frail children

Please do not hesitate to approach us with any specific individual or group ideas for home developments.
