Mission Statement:
Heritage Centers supports children and adults with disabilities, and their families, in achieving their desired quality of life by creating opportunities through comprehensive services.
Our History:
Heritage Centers was originally founded in 1951, by five families, as the Erie County Chapter of the New York State Association for Retarded Children (NYSARC, Inc.). In 1989, our agency changed its name to reflect the growth and 'heritage' of providing comprehensive and quality programming to people with developmental disabilities.
Today, as a leading not-for-profit agency in Western New York, with an operating budget of $30 million and almost one thousand employees, Heritage Centers annually serves more than 3,000 children and adults through a network of over a dozen programs; all designed to assist individuals with developmental disabilities in becoming independent and productive members of our community.
With over 50 years of providing excellent services and programming, Heritage Centers has become an integral part of the local human service network, providing a full range of individualized life services.
